Stretching Is Crucial

Stretching is very important to do before and after your workouts.  Before a workout , you want to focus on dynamic stretches and getting the body warmed up or else you put yourself at risk for injury and even tissue damage. Dynamic stretching before a workout actually increases blood flow so that your tissues have enough oxygen for your workout. It also improves your range of motion so that you have a better workout! After a workout , you want to focus on static stretching and foam rolling. This will help you cool down properly and reduce tightness/pain in the tissues. Stretching is actually known to help improve blood pressure and heart rate and even reduce stress!

"Lifting makes you bulky"

I'm sure we all have heard this before, especially for women. Some people think that lifting weights will make you look like a bodybuilder when that is not the case at all. Something that really helps eliminate anxiety during exercise is to engage mindfulness elements such as focusing on your body and how it feels. By putting all your focus on your body and all the sensations you...

How I Got Into Weightlifting

I was pretty active throughout my life. I was a gymnast for 9 years, and my coach would have us on a strict diet and workout plan for competition season. My gymnastics career ended early my freshman year of high school due to an injury. I really started to struggle with staying active and healthy after that. I started to binge eat whatever I wanted and kept putting off exercise because for once in my life, I didn't have to follow a strict plan. These habits obviously made me gain a bunch of weight and made me become severely depressed. Around my sophomore year in high school, I developed an eating disorder and wouldn't eat for days at a time. This lasted throughout the rest of high school. When I graduated, I took a year off school to really focus on myself. I started to workout again (mainly cardio) but my appetite still wasn't there and I struggled with...
